Agenda for the Day:
Thank you everyone for your understanding regarding postponement of our fall symposium on October 9th: we actually think you will be happy with the end result! We now have a "bonus" presentation by Keith Elliott who is available for our new date and as you requested, will be speaking on the hot topic of "AI" (Artificial intelligence).
This is going to be a valuable day that you won't want to miss! The Fall Symposium theme is "Reaching for Resilience in a Changing Landscape". As always in the fall, we will also hold a short Annual General Meeting (AGM) on chapter business. OFSI is an acronym for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, an independent agency of the Government of Canada reporting to the Minister of Finance created "to contribute to public confidence in the Canadian financial system".

5) Presentation "AI" (Artificial Intelligence)
10:45 - 11:45: Keith Elliott, President, Reed Research
For decades claims personal & investigators alike have had to discern fact from fiction. As we enter a new era with the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the task is even more difficult. Images of injuries, resumes and submissions of health care professionals, various documents for claims, and background information can all be created in an instant utilizing AI. In a world full of false accounts, deep fakes, and questionable resources, investigators now need to also navigate the world of AI.
Join Keith as he explores the various platforms currently available in AI, and learn what can or cannot be done to differentiate legitimate information from fake, manipulated or fabricated resources, claims, procedures and evidence.
6) Lunch
11:45 pm - 12:30 pm Lunch break and networking opportunity
7) Presentation "Three Minutes to Mayhem – When Mass Gatherings Turn Violent or Deadly”
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Suzanne Bernier CBCP, President, SB Crisis Consulting
We’ve been seeing mass gatherings turning into civil unrest more and more across the world, including the latest protest activity occurring on U.S. college and university campuses. This session will review case studies and lessons learned from deadly mass gatherings across North America and around the globe, while sharing tips and insights from survivors to responders. Suzanne has interviewed survivors and families of civil unrest after deadly mass gatherings, from parades to concerts to nightclubs: she has documented what went well, what didn’t go well, and has recommendations on how countries, communities and organizations can better plan for, respond to, and recover from these types of deadly incidents in the future.
